Mylio Hotspot is a traveling photographer’s best friend. This feature allows Mylio to create a private network when there is no internet access (or syncing is not available on the current network) and have Mylio sync. Whether you are in a hotel, a coffee shop, or on safari – Mylio Hotspot can keep your devices in sync.
Mylio Hotspot on Android
- Open the Settings on your Android device.
- Locate your “Mobile Hotspot and Tethering” or “Tethering & Portable Hotspot” settings. This is normally in the same location as your wifi networks, possibly in an “Advanced” or “More…” section.
- Turn on Mobile Hotspot and set up your Wi-Fi hotspot. You will need to give your Hotspot a network name (SSID) and password.
- Connect all of your devices to the newly created hotspot to begin syncing.
Mylio Hotspot on iOS
- On your iOS device, open the Settings app.
- Open Personal Hotspot setting and turn it on.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to create your personal hotspot.
- Connect all of your devices to the newly created hotspot to begin syncing.
Mylio Hotspot on Mac
Mac Hotspots come in two varieties…
- Limited Hotspot
- Creates a local ad-hoc network with your computer to sync with another PC or Mac.
- Desktop Hotspot
- Create a wireless network for any device to connect to. Note: your computer must be connected to the internet via ethernet.

Limited Hotspot
- Open Mylio.
- Navigate to Settings > Sync > Hotspot.
- Select Limited Hotspot.
- Turn on Limited Hotspot.
- Mylio will display a password in a red banner. Use this passcode to connect other devices to the newly created network to sync.
Desktop Hotspot with Ethernet
- Ensure that your Mac has an Ethernet cable plugged in.
- Launch System Preferences and select Sharing.
- Select Internet Sharing from the left menu.
- From the pull-down menu, select “Share your connection from…” and choose Ethernet.
- Alongside “To Computer using:” check the box next to “Wi-Fi” or “Airport”.
- Next, click on Wi-Fi Options and name the network.
- In the Security pull-down click to enable security. Select WPA2 as your security and create a password for your Hotspot.
- Click OK.
- Join the newly created hotspot on other devices to begin syncing.
Mylio Hotspot on Windows

Windows 10 Hotspot comes in two varieties:
- Limited Hotspot
- Creates a local ad-hoc network with your computer to sync with another PC or Mac.
- Desktop Hotspot with Ethernet

Limited Hotspot
- Open Mylio.
- Navigate to Settings > Sync > Hotspot.
- Select Limited Hotspot.
- Turn on Limited Hotspot.
- Mylio will display a password in a red banner. Use this passcode to connect other devices to the newly created network to sync.
Desktop Hotspot with Ethernet
- Open the start menu and type “Mobile Hotspot” and open the system setting “Change Mobile Hotspot Settings”.
- Choose the Internet connection you wish to share from the pull-down menu and turn on Share My Internet Connection.
- Windows will list your network name and password that is being created. If desired, this information can be changed by selecting Edit.
- Join the newly created hotspot on other devices to begin syncing.
Mylio Hotspot on Windows 7 or Windows 8
- Push the Start button and type “Command Prompt”.
- Right-click on Command Prompt and select Open with Administrator Permissions.
- To determine if your adaptor supports this feature, type:
netsh wlan show drivers
- If Command Prompt displays “Hosted Network Supported: yes” then your machine is compatible. If not, you may not have the proper drivers or your card may not support this feature. A USB Wi-Fi adaptor may be supported.
- Type the following command into Command Prompt, replacing {SSID} and {KEY} with your network name and password.
netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid={SSID} key={KEY}
- Open the Network and Sharing Center to bring up the Network Connections window.
- Right-click the network adapter that is connected to the Internet and select Properties.
- Select the Sharing tab.
- Locate and turn on “Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s Internet connection”.
- From the pull-down menu, select Hosted Network Connection.
- Select OK.
- Open the Command Prompt and turn on Wi-Fi hotspot by typing:
netsh wlan start hostednetwork
