If you’re an iPhoto or Aperture user and transitioning to Mylio Photos, you may find that you do not have enough space on your internal drive to fully import your library. Since Mylio Photos requires that you copy media from iPhoto and Aperture out of their current applications, you must have enough space to store your entire photo library twice on your machine. If your computer doesn't have enough space, Mylio Photos allows you to easily import directly to an external drive. Here is how:
Open Mylio Photos and sign in to your account.
Go to the Dashboard and change your computer's Device Sync Policy to Space Saver.
Plug in the external drive that you want to store your original images on.
Import your iPhoto or Aperture Library. Mylio Photos will import the images directly to the external drive while storing smaller, optimized files on your computer's internal storage.
