Error Notification: Disk Storage Full
Error Notification: Disk Storage Full
Updated over 4 months ago

The Disk Storage Full notification lets you know that one of your Mylio Photos-connected devices is running low on storage space. When this happens, syncing pauses across all your devices to prevent any issues. This could be because your computer or mobile device is full, or it might mean that Mylio Photos needs permission to use more space.

This issue can be resolved by freeing up storage space on that device using one or more of the following methods:

Clear the Cache

  1. Open Mylio Photos on the device listed in the "Disk Storage Full" notification.

  2. Click the Dashboard icon , select Devices, then click the Device Card for the device you're using.

  3. Click the Clear Cache button.

  4. Mylio Photos will show the number of optimized and original-quality (full-resolution) images that can be cleared from the cache. Complete the process by clicking the YES button.

Adjusting the Sync Policy Preset

Device Sync Policies control how information about your Mylio Photos+ Library is stored on each of your connected devices. Mylio Photos+ comes pre-installed with several Device Sync Policy presets that fit various workflows and device types.

  1. Click the Go To Device button on the notification banner. This will take you to the Devices section of the Dashboard and highlight the device that has run out of space.

  2. Select that device, then in the next column, choose Device Sync Policies.

  3. For a device currently set to SpaceSaver, click the preset dropdown and choose Catalog Only.

    1. For a device configured as a Vault, this notification means there is insufficient storage space for your entire Mylio Photos Library. To resolve this issue, please connect a larger hard drive and designate it as a Vault, then switch the Device Sync Policy for the older drive/device to SpaceSaver or Travel Backup.

  4. Clear the cache on the device that was out of space.

Adjusting the Device Storage Settings

Mylio Photos+ automatically sets the Minimum Free Space to leave on a device based on the size of your catalog and the amount of available storage space. Minimum Free Space is the amount of disk space Mylio Photos+ is not allowed to use. If necessary, you can manually adjust this threshold to fit your needs.

  1. Click the Go To Device button on the notification banner. This will take you to the Devices section of the Dashboard and highlight the device that has run out of space.

    1. If using another device, open the Mylio Photos app on the device that has run out of storage space and navigate to the Devices section of the Dashboard.

  2. Select the device, then in the next column, choose Device Storage.

  3. Under Minimum Free Space, toggle the switch next to Auto-Manage OFF, then adjust the slider to the left to increase the amount of hard drive space Mylio Photos can use.

  4. Clear the cache on the device that was out of space.

TIP: To view the Device Storage controls for a specific device, you’ll need to access the Mylio Photos Dashboard from that device. For example, if you want to manage or adjust device storage for your phone, you’ll need to make changes in Mylio Photos on your phone.

Free Up Space on Camera Roll or Media Library

The Free Up Space On This Device tool checks your connected iOS or Android Camera Roll to ensure your photo(s) are protected with a copy of the original-quality media saved to another device. If your photo(s) are not synced to another location, Mylio Photos will not delete the photo(s) from the Camera Roll or Media Library.

  1. From a phone or tablet, click the ellipsis icon and choose Settings.

  2. Tap Free up space on this device, click Continue with the default settings, or click Customize. Default settings include:

    1. Photos and videos taken within the last 30 days will not be deleted.

    2. Photos and videos deleted from within Mylio Photos will not be deleted from your device.

    3. Mylio Photos will automatically ask if you want to repeat this process every 30 days.

  3. Mylio Photos will scan your device and tell you how many files can be safely deleted and how much storage it will free up.

  4. Tap the Free up space button to confirm.
