After updating Mylio Photos, you might see a message that says one of your devices needs an upgrade. This usually means a connected device—like a hard drive or another computer—needs to sync with the latest version.
If the device is currently connected and online, give Mylio Photos some time to sync. For large libraries, this process may take a while. Once syncing is complete, the warning should clear on its own.
If the device isn’t connected, simply reconnect it and allow Mylio Photos to update and sync as needed.
Updating a Computer
To update Mylio Photos, open the app on the computer that needs the upgrade. If you’re prompted to update, follow the on-screen instructions.
If no prompt appears:
On macOS, go to Mylio Photos menu > Check for Updates
On Windows, go to Help > Check for Updates
To confirm you’re using the latest version:
On macOS, go to Mylio Photos menu > About Mylio Photos
On Windows, go to Help > About Mylio Photos
Compare your version number to the latest listed in the Release Notes and Change Log.
Updating an External Drive
Reconnect Your External Drive. Make sure the external drive is powered on and connected to a computer with Mylio Photos running. The warning may take some time to clear—please be patient.
Updating a Mobile Phone or Tablet
Most phones and tablets update apps automatically. To check manually, open the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android) and search for Mylio Photos.
If you see an Update button, tap it.
If you only see Open, you’re already up to date.
To sync, Mylio Photos must be open and running in the foreground. Open the app, plug your device into power if needed, and give it time to complete the update and sync. If you switch to another app or the device goes to sleep, sync will be paused.
If the message doesn’t clear after 24 hours, please contact our support team directly via the Help Menu in the app by selecting Contact Mylio Support or visiting mylio.com/contact-support.
