What to Expect After Updating (24.5 → 24.6.7848)

  • Face detection improvements may trigger additional scanning. You might see optimized images re-sync so face tags can be updated.

  • Apple Photos libraries are re-scanned for better compatibility. If possible, update the desktop that has your Apple Photos library first.

    • Updating Apple Photos only from mobile device? Keep it plugged-in to a power source, with Mylio Photos in the foreground. If iCloud communication is required, it can take time due to server limits.

  • External drives may require a quick upgrade. If you see a banner on the device in the Sync panel, connect the drive and let it complete.

We appreciate your patience while these background tasks finish—they’re part of delivering a more reliable experience.

New and Enhanced Features

  • Spaces: The Spaces indicator now lives in the title bar and is clickable—easier to see which Space is active and to switch filtering views.

  • Spaces Management PIN: For team and family plans, set a master PIN before inviting guest devices.

  • Descriptions: The default caption/description field is now 3× larger for easier writing.

Bugs fixes, performance, usability, and user-requested improvements

  • Apple Photos duplicates: Photo DeDupe better detects “near-identical” Apple Photos files and can merge metadata variations.

  • Face recognition & tagging:

    • Addressed slowdowns and improved readiness while syncing.

    • Faster switching between people during batch tagging.

    • Higher default confidence when a person has many confirmed examples.

    • Alternative suggestions appear when choosing from the face dropdown—even for already-tagged faces.

  • Keyboard input: Resolved an issue where certain keys could apply ratings while entering a passcode.

  • Apple PhotoKit & sync: Fixed cases where PhotoKit-returned files could interrupt syncing, including setups with multiple devices connected to Apple Photos libraries.

  • Networking on iOS: Addressed a case where some iOS versions would only sync via TURN servers due to a missing local network access prompt.

  • Catalog recovery: Faster recovery on some USB disk configurations.

  • General: Additional performance and stability improvements.

Reminder of minimum system requirements

Mylio strives to balance security, performance, and stability when setting our minimum operating system requirements. Due to recent updates from OS manufacturers, we have increased these requirements. These new requirements were announced at the end of 2023, and are now being enforced with this release.

  • Windows Computers and Tablets: Windows 10 version 21H2 (64-bit) or later; Windows 11

  • Windows ARM – Surface X Pro: Windows 10 version 21H2 (64-bit) or later; Windows 11

  • Android Phones and Tablets: Android 11 or later

  • Macintosh Computers: macOS 11 or later

  • iPhone and iPad Devices: iOS 16 or later

While older devices can still run previous versions of Mylio Photos, this will change in upcoming updates. Our next major update, expected this winter, will require a database upgrade, which older devices will not support.

Please ensure your device is upgraded to a supported OS to avoid disruption. If your device can’t be updated due to manufacturer limitations, consider replacing it with a newer or refurbished model that meets the minimum requirements.
